TAMPA — The bull is coming out of his cage.
James Kaprielian will make his spring debut on Thursday against the Blue Jays in Dunedin.
“I’m ready to go,” Kaprielian, who had felt like a “caged bull,” said.
The Yankees’ plan had been for the righty to only pitch in simulated games during the spring but that changed.
The Yankees are being careful with Kaprielian, who missed nearly all of last season due to a flexor tendon injury.
He will be on an innings limit in 2017, but could fast track to the majors if he stays healthy and pitches well.
Kaprielian is slated to open this season in High-A Tampa.
