The Charles Oakley courtside tour is expected to make its next stop in Brooklyn on Sunday evening.
And this time, Ice Cube will be the Knicks great’s friendly neighbor on “Biggie Night” at Barclays Center.
Oakley is slated to watch his former team take on the Nets from the sidelines, continuing a practice that followed last month’s well-documented altercation with security at Madison Square Garden.
Two weeks after his Garden arrest — and the rekindling of his public feud with Knicks owner James Dolan — Oakley took Cavs owner Dan Gilbert up on his offer to join him under the basket during the Knicks’ game in Cleveland on Feb. 23.
Oakley said that despite his deep yet damaged ties to the Knicks, he was rooting for “the better team,” leaving little ambiguity.
Oakley’s association with rapper/actor Ice Cube, however, doesn’t seem as contrived as his apparent camaraderie with Dolan’s contemporary in Cleveland: Oakley is a player/coach in Ice Cube’s Big3 League.
If he’s in Brooklyn to watch the Knicks lose Sunday, Oakley will have to get behind the league’s worst team. But as long as his relationship with his former club is strained, he shouldn’t mind getting behind the underdog.
